Send Ryan to Volunteer in Sudan

I am fundraising to cover
the costs of joining Sudan Volunteer Programme for a 10 month commitment to
teach English in Khartoum, Sudan. Most of you know my story, I just graduated
from the George Washington University with a degree in Political Science and
International Affairs this past May. I hold a commitment to working on and
contributing to a better, stronger world where human rights of all people are
protected. My time outside the classroom with STAND, Voices for Sudan, and
Banaa has empowered me to gain valuable perspective and experience. I am truly an
organizer at heart; my strongest characteristics include my creativity, problem
solving, and ability to communicate effectively. This past year with STAND
National I had the opportunity to mentor and inspire student activists while
engaging in our transition as an independent organization. In the start of my
career, I hope to join a team of like-minded people that are actively
contributing in a meaningful way to the issues which I care about the most. My
time with Sudan Volunteer Programme will
not be spent conducting any advocacy but rather a dedicated period of time
for personal service-learning. Through service-learning I will be able to gain
a deeper understanding of the root causes of social issues in Sudan, engage in
meaningful service by teaching, and expand my perspective by learning about
Sudanese culture. My passion and your support will undoubtedly contribute to my
success with Sudan Volunteer Programme.
The majority of theses funds will go towards the cost of my flight about $800 each way. The rest will go towards my visa fee, vaccinations, and other travel expenses involved with this commitment. They add up, so your support is greatly appreciated!
