Snyder Co. Sheriff's K-9 Unit Fund
Donation protected
Snyder County Sheriff John Zechman is pleased to announce that his office is now accepting donations towards forming the Sheriff’s Office’s first K-9 Unit. Recognizing the increasing problem the area has with illegal drugs and prescription drug abuse, he has decided to add a valuable tool to his office to assist in fighting this epidemic. The K-9 Unit will consist of one dog trained in narcotics detection and tracking and one Deputy trained as the dog’s handler. Once up and running, the K-9 Unit will be able to assist the Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies with searches for controlled substances and tracking fleeing suspects. The K-9 Unit will also be able to assist local fire departments during search and rescue missions for missing or lost persons. The K-9 Unit will also be available, upon request, to assist the area’s local schools in searching for illegal drugs.
Donations for the K-9 Unit will be accepted by the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit Fund. The K-9 Unit Fund was specially formed to fund the K-9 Unit. The goal of the K-9 Unit Fund is to fund the K-9 Unit with donations from individuals and local businesses; not with money from taxes. The K-9 Unit Fund will accept any donation of any amount and all donations are considered charitable donations for tax purposes.
