St. Vincent de Paul Assistance Fund

Tax deductible

You want St. Vincent de Paul's volunteers to be your community's last line of defense for families on the edge of homelessness, having their lights turned off or sleeping on a cold floor every night.

You can donate to the work of St. Vincent de Paul here on GoFundMe.  Our volunteers will use your gift to provide assistance with the basic necessities of life for those in need in our area.

If making a monetary donation isn't quite what you're looking for you can help us in another way.  We're asking churches across Northeast Iowa to conduct a Weekend Clothing Collection for St. Vincent de Paul.  A church willing to help would collect donations of clothing over a weekend that works for them.  They would organize and promote the clothing collection to their church community and other interested donors, store the new or used clothing for us until Monday morning when we'll have our trucks on their way to pick up the gifts they've collected.  If you're interested in learning more please call us at [phone redacted].  We'll answer any questions you have and get you started!

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, District Council of Waterloo, Iowa (SVDP) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit dedicated to helping those in need with life's basic necessities.   Our volunteers provide emergency financial assistance to help prevent housing evictions, utility shut offs or forcing someone to choose between paying for their essential medications or paying their rent.  The volunteers of SVDP distribute emergency boxes of food to the hungry every day and provide assistance of food, coats and toys to 500 families each Christmas.

A critical program we adminster and that you may not know much about is the free distribution of clothing, furniture and household necessities to those in need.  After an interview with a SVDP volunteer caseworker, families and individuals are provided quality used furniture to help outfit their homes.   SVDP distributes over $130,000 worth of clothing, furniture and household necessities annually.  By providing this crucial service we help the disadvantaged avoid doing business with furniture rental companies that charge 3 or 4 times what a product is worth if someone is fortunate and complete the contract.   Please do all that you can to help us continue to help others in our communities with a donation to St. Vincent de Paul.  God bless you always!
