Invest in Bee Hives for the Environment

The Environment Needs Honey Bees!
Support Scott the Urban Beekeeper! With Your Donation You Will Be
Part of the Solution...
The devastation of the Honey Bee is a serious environmental problem! Two parasitic mites began to attack Honey Bees in the 1980's in the USA. These mites have devastated wild bee populations to the point that few wild bee hives survive.
There are fewer bee hives in the U.S. today than at any time in the last 50 years.
Why should you care? Our animal friends provide pollination services for over three-quarters of the staple crop plants that feed human kind, and for 90% of all flowering plants in the world. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), we are facing an "impending pollination crisis," in which both wild and managed pollinators are disappearing at alarming rates owing to habitat loss, pesticide poisoning, diseases and pests.
This serious issue caused an environmentalist, animal lover and Civil Engineer in the Detroit area, to take action. After tons of education and lots of trial and error, Scott Hoffman has been keeping bees since 2009, and also doing his best to educate others and breed locally adapted, disease resistant honey bees. Known as "Scott the Urban Beekeeper", he believes that spite of their wild nature they respond well to a gentle touch, a caring heart and an open mind.
Would you like to help Scott the Urban Beekeeper expand his impact? Please donate now. No donation is too small, and will make a difference.
Michigan lost more than 47% of all bee colonies last year, due partly to drought- higher than the national average. Scott needs help to keep adding hives to make up for this rate of loss. He would like to add more than 10 hives this season, and you can invest in this worthy goal!
Do you want to be part of the solution, even though you don't have the time or experience to keep bees? Would you like to learn more and perhaps eventually start your own beehive? Scott has been asked to partner with a Country Club and an Urban Farm who both funded their apiaries (a place where bees are kept), but Scott has self-funded not only his hives but the educational website StartaBeehive.com It can cost as much as $1K to start a beehive and make it thrive.
The more investors who donate, the better for the environment! Please donate now!
