Update: The fund has been amended to support Nemory's four children he leaves behind. If you read Nemory's story, you will discover his own father died when he was just two. At five years old, and with no options, Nemory's mother took him out of school to work in the fields at the tender age of five so the family could eat.
I made a promise to Nemory I would look after his children. The fund total has been adjusted to reflect what the fund needs for one year. We will continue to adjust the amount each year going forward until the last child is out of school.

Nemory Keita is one of the most amazing people I've ever known. He's my beloved Malian photography assistant and my Africa Portfolios wouldn't be what they are without him. We began working together in 2000. Nemory facilitated the Tuareg shoots in the Sahara Desert, Mali and the Akan Fishermen shoots along the Gold Coast in Ghana. His expert support navigating logistics and locations has made my field work possible, successful and most of all; safe.
For anyone who's ever had a reliable assistant who goes the distance - to make sure the project is a success - you understand the value of this man. Now it is my turn to support him and his family in any way I can.
Nemory is a single father of four children. The youngest is eight and the oldest is sixteen. Recently he was diagnosed with a terrible, life threatening illness. The hospital facilities in Bamako, Mali's capitol, are insufficient to save his life. His best option is to go for treatment in Dakar, Senegal where there is superior medical care and specialists.
To facilitate this effort, I am offering my work from the Tuareg and Akan Fishermen portfolios at a special price. These silver gelatin prints are made on 11" x 14" paper and offered at $500.00. The prints are signed on the back, limited to an edition of 5 and printed to museum standards. (They are normally priced at $1200).
