Literacy to Overcome Rural Poverty
Donation protected

#WeLoveTeachers
Many of the students at Sea View Elementary School in the rural town of Salton City, CA have limited access to books and minimal exposure to literature and as a result, we have a high rate of struggling readers. The loving teachers and staff of Sea View as well as Club Z! Tutoring of Palm Desert/Desert Cities invite you to help change this. With your support, we will establish classroom libraries and help children start a library of their own at home. Together, we can ignite a love of reading, open up a world of ideas, and spark the imagination of over 500 children. A book could inspire a child to become a lawyer or an entreprenuer, develop a passion for biology or adventure, and expose them to countries and cultures around the world. These books will provide boundless opportunies for grateful children in need of your dedication and support.
If you'd like to donate books, please visit Palm Springs Auto Wash & Detail at 300 N Indian Canyon Drive Palm Springs for $3 off your car wash or Desert Home & Candle Gallery at 74919 HWY 111 in Indian Wells for 15% off of any item with any donation.
We'd like to say a special THANK YOU to Rosebush Gardening for giving us a very genour donation of over 200 books!
We would like to provide class sets of classic literature, purchase informational (non-fiction) texts, and will give you the biggest bang for your buck. For example, a class set of Call of the Wild by Jack London costs about $135 and a set of Harry Potter books cost about $50. We will also purchase gently used books and support companies that provide teacher discounts.
Reminder: If you prefer to donate books instead of cash, please visit Palm Springs Auto Wash & Detail at 300 N Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs or Desert Home & Candle Gallery in Indian Wells.
