Green Classroom Initiative

Peace by Peace is a peace movement and plant nursery founded by Russell and Garrett Collins of Orange City, Florida. Peace by Peace specializes in natural and organic gardening and actively builds community and school gardens as a way to increase access to healthy, local food. These gardens increase the amount of pollinators which, in turn, help increase food production.


Peace by Peace gifts indoor air purifying plants to schools as part of the Green Classroom Initiative (Orange City Nursery Greens Up Blue Lake Classrooms). Many studies have proven that indoor plants help students learn and perform better in school. The increased oxygen and decreased toxins in the air make it safer and healthier to breathe.

Peace by Peace also also has a Reforestation Initiative. Trees are important to our entire ecosystem because they increase rainfall amounts and help mitigate the problems that we face from deforestation and the resulting desertification. Their roots hold the ground together, which is especially important in Florida due to sinkholes.
