Give ShoutOut one more year

The ShoutOut Network has been operating for just over 18 months, and we've been fortunate to have produced incredible award winning podcasts that have reached over 100,000 listeners around the world. We're proving that underrepresented voices matter.

The ShoutOut Network has produced Melanin Millennials, Mostly Lit, Unarchived History, Artistic State of Mind and more. All of our podcasts have amassed thousands of listeners across the globe which is beyond what we ever imagined. All of this content has been coming out of our humble living room in Elephant and Castle.

From our launch in 2015, we have received over 400 pitches from potential podcasters eager to join the platform and be a part of this journey. The ShoutOut Network has outgrown our living room, and we need a bigger and more accessible space so we can provide more opportunities for content creators. Our vision is to remain the place that amplifies the stories, passions and interests of those from underrepresented backgrounds.

We have been fortunate enough to be offered a space by Southwark Council (see image above). We launched ShoutOut Live! The Festival to raise the money needed to move into the new space and build a permanent studio, however, due to unforeseen circumstances some unexpected costs cropped up in the final weeks, and we were unable to raise the necessary funds.

Access to finance has been a huge challenge for us, but it has not stopped us from producing 270 episodes and dedicating 1058 hours in production. We love creating podcasts as much as you love listening to them. We still have so much we want to achieve in this space, and our journey is only just beginning. We have made significant changes to our business model, and we're very optimistic about our future and the shows that will be joining us on this new journey.

We have taken significant steps to ensure our resources are accessible to all. Your support will enable us to maintain the quality of the content but also keep this opportunity available for others. Our core offering is to create a space for content creators without burdening them with the upfront costs of high-quality production. That way their focus is on delivering the best content possible and promoting their work. We've worked with lawyers and business advisors to maintain this model in a way that will be sustainable for the network. We can't wait to put this to the test and share our updates with you.

We'd like to move into the studio for January 2018, so we ask you to help us cover some of our costs for the next year. We'll use the donations to secure the studio and get it ready for audio production.

We have five excellent podcasts ready to launch, and we'll begin releasing new content from October 2017. Our new lineup includes an LGBTQ+ safe space, an audio drama, an immigration documentary, a tech podcast and much more on hold that we'll keep under wraps for now.

If you enjoy our current podcasts and want to see more from us, please do support our growth and we'll continue to provide you with the content that you want and deserve.

Here's what your donation can help us achieve:

£4500-  Annual rent (+bills) for the new studio.
£5000- Soundproofing and Fitting
£8900- 1 years production costs for 5 Podcasts
£700-  Equipment upgrades and servicing.

Our Funding Goals:

£8900
- We have five shows ready and willing to go. At SON content comes first so if for whatever reason we don't meet our target we'll use what we raise to cover the cost of production for the podcasts even if it means we stay in the living room a bit longer.

£9500
- If we raise this amount we can rent the studio space and get it fitted that way we can rent it out to other podcasters which can go towards our production costs.

Our target represents 41% of our annual costs to run the network. Efe and I do this out of passion and love and would continue indefinitely, however, we have depleted our resources, and we need your support to give the network one more year to prove that underrepresented voices are valuable. We have developed a comprehensive commercial strategy that ensures we can raise the 59% needed to make the next year a success and give us a future.

Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to receiving your support.
