Skidmore Volunteers in Guatemala
Donation protected
This March, thirteen students from Skidmore College will be spending spring break in Guatemala City, volunteering with the educational non-profit organization Safe Passage . We are extremely excited about this opportunity to learn about Guatemala, community organization, and the amazing work that an international nonprofit can do. Safe Passage, or "Camino Seguro," makes a huge difference in the lives of children living in Guatemala City nearest to the garbage dump. Their families come from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds, and Safe Passage offers these children a chance to receive an education in a warm environment. In addition to our time volunteering, we want to be able to give the organization a lasting monetary contribution.
We come from diverse backgrounds and have different academic interests, but we are united through our desire to learn about development, education, and Guatemala City. Last year, a group of Skidmore students was able to volunteer with Safe Passage, and they ensured that the trip could continue in 2015.
We would like to be able to raise money to support this incredible organization. Safe Passage depends on support from its volunteer constituency, and we want to carry on the legacy of Skidmore Students' involvement. 100% of your donations will go straight to the organization. This helps the school-support programs buy books, supplies, it supports health and nutrition initiatives, and ensures that there is infrastructure in both Guatemala and the US to keep the program going.
Help us strengthen our personal and school-wide commitment to international education. Please support our mission and the wonderful work of Safe Passage!
