Kiln for Stoner Prairie Elementary!

Elementary school is often our first connection to clay. Help Stoner Prairie Elementary School pay for a new kiln. Stoner Prairie serves students k-5th grade in the Fitchburg and Verona area. Mrs. Christenson is dedicated to making sure her students have the ability experience art in different ways. Our kiln is 30 years old and its time to replace it. The old kiln is out of date, the temperature must be adjusted manually every two hours. This makes firing during the school day extremely difficult as it takes away time and attention from our students. A standard fire time for 30 pieces 8-12 hours, which goes well beyond the regular school day.

The purchase of a new kiln will:
-Safe, timely and energy efficient way to fire pieces, allowing a timer to be set so a loaded kiln can start firing just before school starts, increasing in temperature on its own
-One time investment that will benefit students for 30 or more years
-Allow valuable art time to be spent creating art with students rather than babysitting the kiln
-Increase the amount of art created using clay
-Benefit the entire student body
