Antonio, 40 anni portati benissimo (nonostante tutto), faceva pugilato insieme a mia sorella. Mi hanno chiesto una mano nella creazione di questa campagna di crowdfunding pensando di dover ricorrere a qualcuno come me che in passato aveva sostenuto altri progetti.

Solo che quelli erano progetti musicali, pur sempre di vita, per molti, ma qui è in ballo una vita. E mentre scrivo “ballo”, dalla musica passo mentalmente all’idea di movimento, di libertà che regala la sensazione di potersi muovere a ritmo di musica… .

So per certo che sarebbero bastati la simpatia e tutto l’entusiasmo di Antonio per coinvolgervi nella realizzazione di questo progetto, ma è fondamentale essere in tanti per agire prima possibile.

Il traguardo è così vicino e visibile eppure così irraggiungibile senza il vostro aiuto.

Nel 2018 un’infezione midollare, le cui cause sono ancora ignote, ha costretto Antonio a una paralisi totale improvvisa e gli occhi erano l’unica cosa che riusciva a muovere. La sua forza interiore, incessante motivazione e TANTA fisioterapia lo hanno portato a recuperare nel corso di questi lunghi anni l’uso graduale della parte superiore del corpo fino a quello della gamba destra che muove autonomamente ma con molta, troppa fatica, per evitare l’uso della sedia a rotelle.

La gamba sinistra è ancora molto indietro e non esiste purtroppo alcuna certezza che possa recuperare la sua piena funzionalità. Per questo ci sentiamo a un passo dal traguardo dal vedere Antonio tornare a camminare autonomamente dove l’unico ostacolo è meramente di carattere economico.

Antonio ha perso il lavoro ma non la sua voglia di impegnarsi tant’è che ora che può muoversi in sedia a rotelle inizierà un tirocinio part-time presso un ente di assistenza. Questo lavoro sarà di grande aiuto per continuare a pagare le spese mediche e di riabilitazione ma del tutto insufficiente a finanziare il costo di quell'ultimo passo decisivo per vincere la sua battaglia.

Esiste uno strumento, non musicale, ma altrettanto in grado di produrre emozioni, perché potrà aprire ad Antonio nuove possibilità di movimento.

Si chiama C-Brace e con esso si può flettere l’articolazione del ginocchio sotto carico, ad esempio per sedersi, affrontare pendenze, camminare su terreni sconnessi e scendere le scale. Può essere indossato sotto i vestiti e con la nuova tecnologia di sensori permette un movimento più dinamico e reattivo. Si può perfino cambiare l’utilizzo di C-Brace tramite un’applicazione su smartphone impostando ad esempio la modalità ciclistica.

E’ tutto possibile con C-Brace ma può esserlo solo grazie al vostro contributo perché la spesa è al di sopra delle nostre possibilità.

Abbiamo deciso di impostare questa campagna con una scadenza (entro l'anno) perchè dopo 4 anni durante i quali la vita di Antonio è stata messa in attesa, è giusto provare a recuperare del tempo. Inoltre, una volta acquistato lo speciale tutore, Antonio avrà bisogno di passare da 2 a 4 sedute alla settimana di fisioterapia per imparare a usarlo.

E se la cifra necessaria per il tutore pari a 53.000 euro verrà superata prima della scadenza, l’importo eccedente (al netto delle tasse di transazione per i pagamenti e commissioni per la piattaforma gofundme) verrà impiegato per finanziare le nuove spese di fisioterapia.

Serve tanta creatività per chi come Antonio si ritrova a reinventarsi ogni giorno. E allora concedetemi una breve digressione creativa - naturalmente musicale, ispirata dall’ultima classifica di Sanremo, che in realtà vuole essere più una dedica al protagonista di questa storia e un ringraziamento anticipato a tutti voi.

Sono "Brividi" di paura "O forse sei tu" che "Apri tutte le porte" “Ovunque sarai" col tuo sorriso così disarmante a far vacillare tutte le nostre insicurezze? E invece sono "Farfalle". "Ogni volta è così" quando riscopri un’emozione.

Antonio is 40 years old but he looks younger (everything considered). He used to box with my sister and that’s how I met him. They asked me to help with the creation of this crowdfunding campaign just because I had done that before.

That’s true! I had done it before for artistic projects, which were of vital importance to those musicians but this time it is different, a life is at stake. I know for sure that Antonio's sympathy and enthusiasm would have been enough to get your contribution to this project but it is essential to engage as many people as possible to help Antonio walk again.

The finish line is visible and yet so unattainable without your help.

In 2018, a bone marrow infection, whose causes are still unknown, forced Antonio into sudden total paralysis and his eyes were the only thing he was able to move. His inner strength, incessant motivation and A LOT of physiotherapy sessions over the past long 4 years have led him to slowly recover the use of the upper body and the right leg that can now move independently but with much, too much effort to avoid the use of the wheelchair.

There is no certainty that his left leg can recover its full functionality. This is why we feel one step away from the finish line. There is a major economic obstacle to see Antonio go back to walking independently.

Antonio lost his job but not his desire to commit. Now that he can move in a wheelchair, he will start a part-time internship at an assistance institution. This job will help him pay part of the physiotherapy treatments but is insufficient to finance the cost of that final decisive step to win his battle.

There is an instrument, not musical, but equally capable of producing emotions, because it is the only one that can allow Antonio to walk again.

It is a leg orthosis called C-Brace. With it you can flex the knee joint under load, for example to sit down, to tackle slopes, to walk on uneven ground and go downstairs. It can be worn under clothing and with the new sensor technology it allows a more dynamic and reactive movement. You can even change the use of C-Brace via an application on your smartphone by setting the cycling mode, for example.

Everything is possible with C-Brace but it will only be thanks to your contribution because the expense is beyond our possibilities.

We have decided to set a campaign with a deadline (end of this year) because after 4 years during which Antonio’s life was put on hold, it is right to make up the time.

In order to learn the use of C-Brace Antonio will need to increase his physiotherapy treatments from 2 to 4 per week. Hopefully, before the deadline we will collect more than 53.000 euro needed for the purchase of the C-Brace. The exceeding amount (net of transaction taxes and the website commission) will be used to finance the costs of additional physiotherapy sessions.
