Brogan-Lei: Our Superhero!
Amy and Craig, who have 4 beautiful children, fulfilled their 10 year dream of (finally) getting married on 18th June 2016 - closely followed by a family Honeymoon in Cornwall.
The Honeymoon seemed like the perfect end to the perfect wedding but things were to take a turn for the worst in the coming weeks. Whilst in Cornwall, Amy & Craig’s eldest Daughter, Brogan-Lei, contracted what appeared to be an eye infection and spent the holiday taking a course of antibiotics and generally feeling unwell. Not to be oppressed by her illness, 7 year old Brogan bravely put her pain to the back of her mind and enjoyed the getaway with her parents, sisters and brother.
Upon arriving back home in Birmingham, Brogan was still very poorly and Amy & Craig were worried. An uneasy nights sleep, unusual behaviour and sickness from Brogan made them decide to visit their local hospital in the early hours of Monday morning (27th June). Unfortunately, the hospital couldn’t identify the signs of Brogan’s impending illness and she was sent back home, simply diagnosed with a sickness bug.
Later that day, Amy noticed that a rash had started to appear on Brogan’s skin and took her straight to her GP. The GP suspected the rash to be something more sinister and immediately called for an ambulance, for Brogan to be admitted to hospital. He suspected Meningitis!
Amy & Craig’s worst fears were confirmed at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Brogan was subsequently rushed in to the Intensive Care Unit to start immediate treatment.
Brogan was suffering and her little body was being subjected to the most horrific and life-changing illness. Round the clock monitoring and treatment was necessary for her stability and the Birmingham Children’s Hospital was probably the best place in the world for her! With the support of wider family members, terrified parents Amy & Craig were able to stay by her side and monitor any changes.
Just a few days later, with updates from Amy & Craig on a daily basis, we know that Brogan is still sleeping and is very sick but she is responding to her treatment well; the coming weeks are crucial for recovery.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money to organise a special day out for Brogan for when she is able to get out and about again, following this terrifying ordeal. We know it will continue to be a long and scary journey for the family - we just want to show our support and love for little Brogan and give them all something to look forward to!
Also, a minimum of 10% of any funds raised will be donated to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, who continue to do a fantastic job in keeping our little cheeky Brogan stable!
We thank everybody in advance who donates to Brogan's fund.
Come on Brogan, you superhero, Robin needs Batman back!
This fundraiser was set up by the families of Amy & Craig.
