Play for the Hollywood Fringe Festival

Donation protected
Driven by Demons is a theatrical collective raising funds to take four incredible one act plays to The 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Our team is comprised of four talented, up and coming artists who have just made their directorial debut at The LACC Theatre Academy. Your donations will not only support our efforts to produce work with a powerful and poignant message, but will also be supporting a group of dedicated actors, directors, designers and techs in bringing their phenomenal work to a professional stage. We are deeply passionate about the power of theatre and performance art to reach audiences and evoke change in the world around us, and have chosen unique works by brilliant writers that are all at once entertaining, inspiring, thought provoking and deeply moving. Below is a short description of the pieces we have chosen, as well as our show schedule for the festival. For more information please visit http://www.hollywoodfringe.org and search Driven by Demons. Thank you for your support!

Thunder in the Index, by Phillip Hayes Dean
Joshua Noon awakens in a psychiatric ward, bound in a straight jacket and confronted with the curious Dr. Goldberg. A sharp, witty and exacerbating verbal duel ensues -- spanning across racism, identity crisis and jazz music -- bringing the disparate, irreconcilable worlds of the two men vividly into focus, and closing with a twist that begs the tantalizing question: Who is really mad, the kept or the keeper?

PUSH, by George Cameron Grant
The powerful story of a young man's painful struggle to come out as homosexual, and find acceptance of who he truly is at home and in the world around him. Told lovingly by his 16 year old sister, Evie, Push examines the tragic impact of bullying in our society, what is left behind in the wake of suicide, and the dire consequences that can be when the delicate limits of our very humanity are pushed too far.

The Proposal, by Anton Checkov
Tempers fly and comedy flares as the nervous hypochondriac Ivan Lomov desperately attempts to propose to his neighbor Natasha, but is hindered by arguments with she and her father  over anything and everything from land ownership to which family boasts the finer hunting dog. Will they marry, or will Lomov's proposal be the death of him?

Leon and Joey, by Keith Huff
Leon is a simple man with a complex fantasy life trying to save his suicidal brother Joey. He employs the help of Mo-Billy, an "imaginary" wood-nymph, and Gina, a self-described witch who is full of love and hope despite a dark and trying past. Unlikely events ensue as these fantastic characters clash in an attempt to show Joey that there is light in this world worth living for. Both darkly comedic and inherently touching, Leon and Joey examines the battle between light and dark which exists within us all, and the power of love, hope and true human connection to overcome our deepest pain.
