40 Marathons #Handcycle

My name is Tavian Bryant. I am a paraplegic, injured in an automobile accident in 1995. Staying healthy and finding a way to compete by completing marathons all over the country. I am also a high school teacher, and I hope to inspire my students and others to “be more and do more.” A couple of years ago I started competing in marathons, and sharing my experiences with my students. I also tell them my personal story of tragedy and triumph. The response has been great. I can tell that I have inspired some of them to shoot for more in their lives. This is ultimately what gave birth to 40 Marathons #Handcycle. It is a campaign that is dircted toward inspiring people to set goals, overcome challenges, and give their best effort. I figure the best way to convince them is to go out and do it myself. The goal is to complete 40 marathons by the end of 2020. 37 down and 3 to go. I am seeking community support so I can expand the campaign, and extend the goal well beyond 40 marathons. My hope is that as my family, friends, students, and co-workers continue to follow and share my story, many will be inspired to rise above the challenges that life will bring. The funds that are raised will be used for marathon fees, airfare, hotels, and handcycle maintenance. This will be an ongoing process that will be completed over the course of several years. Currently, the plan is to complete 4 marathons a year. Any level of contribution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to view my campaign.
