In 2013, 3 skaters had the idea of submitting a Team West Indies team for the Roller Derby World Cup that was happening in 2014.
After recruiting eligible skaters and having a few training sessions and games the inaugeral Team Windies ended up playing 3 epic qualifying games against Sweden, Japan and Chile and going through to a second round game against Team England, ending up 15th of 30 teams.
This time around, although we have a few returning skaters, we have a lot of new blood and have been working hard together as much as possible for the next World Cup, taking place in February in Manchester.
We hope to better our results although we are up against stiff competition. Although a lot of us are based in the UK, we are a self financing team and still need to fundraise for Uniforms, living expenses and accomodation for the event.
We're aware that a lot of teams are asking you to donate, we hope you will choose to give to Team windies so we can bring the fiyah once again.
