Thomas's Fight

Thomas Lane was born June 28, 2012 with a rare kidney disease called Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARKPD), which causes enlarged cystic kidneys. ARKPD affects approximately 1 in 20,000 babies and sadly there is no cure for ARKPD, only treatment with dialysis and transplantation.
Thomas resides in West Roxbury, with his Dad, Danny Lane of Milton, and his Mom, Johanna (McGillycuddy) Lane who moved here from County Kerry, Ireland and grew up in Dorchester. Thomas also has an older brother, Daniel who is 2.
Thomas is our little hero and has quite the battle ahead of him. He has spent the majority of his life hospitalized and has undergone several major surgeries including nephrectomy, a tracheostomy and several feeding tube placements. Currently Thomas relies on a ventilator 24 hours a day in order to breathe due to lung complications. Unfortunately Thomas also suffers from Caroli Syndrome, a cystic disease of the liver, which effects 1 in 1 million people.
Along with needing a kidney transplant Thomas will eventually need a liver transplant. Throughout this past year Thomas has been nothing but a superhero. Please join us to support Thomas and his family and together we can help fight Thomas's Fight.
