Thomasson Family - Adoption Fund
Donation protected
In November of 2014, we started praying and researching adoption. We weren't sure this was the direction that we were supposed to take as a family, but we felt the desire to learn more.
In January 2015, we were presented with a unique opportunity to host a child from China in our home for the summer. We spent a few months discussing and praying whether or not we should pursue this opportunity. In May 2015, we said "yes." We were a bit reluctant but felt like this was the direction we should go. As the weeks passed and the arrival of our hosting child (a boy) was approaching, we were getting more excited about this opportunity. We also knew that this could lead to a full out adoption and were anticipating whether or not God would call us to adopt this little guy. Approximately two weeks before his arrival, we received notification from the adoption agency that some paperwork got mixed up in China and the child was no longer coming for the summer and was also no longer available for adoption. We were heartbroken. We had spent so much time praying for him and asking God to prepare our hearts and our home for him. We felt connected to him and had hoped that his visit here would lead to us adopting him. We were very confused on what God was doing, but throughout it all we kept hearing Him tell us to "Trust Me!" So through the tears and sorrow, and an incredible prayer team, we were able to find peace in healing as we moved forward.
Once the fog had cleared, we realized that the situation we went through with the previous child only confirmed 100% to both of us that we absolutely wanted to adopt. After much prayer, we have decided to adopt from China. We have filed with an adoption agency and are currently wrapping up our homestudy. We are still waiting to be officially matched with a young boy, but are hoping that will happen very soon.
We are stepping out in faith and trusting God to lead us down this path. We know He has called us to adopt, in fact He calls all of us to care for orphans one way or another, and for that we are so excited to be living out His love.
We have set up this GoFundMe page as a way to help us raise the money for the adoption costs. Adopting internationally can be very expensive, but we trust that God is going to meet the financial needs we have to bring home our son.
We ask that you prayerfully consider supporting us on this journey, whether it be financially, spiritually, or emotionally.
We are so honored that you all would consider us during this time and we are thankful to the Lord for blessing us with such dear friends.
