Please help us have a wedding!
Juan (JC) and I are two freelance cartoonists, cosplayers, and fursuit performers. We befriended each other online back in 2010, and became buddies in person finally in 2011 at anime and furry conventions. Over the years our friendship budded into a romantic relationship and we now have been happily together for nearly two years.
Then, while everything and the kitchen sink seemed to be happening over the course of a week, JC proposed to me during Valentine's Day weekend! I cried tears of pure joy and said yes! We are so excited to start the next stage of our lives together but right now we need the help of our friends and family.
Honestly we are stuck between a rock and a hard place financially.
And here's Why.
Our living expenses are making it hard for us to afford our wedding, but while we aren't trying to rush to the altar so-to-speak, we cannot afford NOT to marry now...due to a huge medical tax that the government takes from every paycheck just because we are domestic partners instead of legally married. I won't say how much is being taken away, but I will say having that chunk of funds available again each pay period will make bills MUCH easier to tackle each month.
Instead of making a wedding registry, we are asking for wedding donations!
As much as we love gifts, we really want to have a special ceremony for us to share with a few friends and family. We will be marrying locally at a small chapel here in our home town of Modesto, CA and hosting a potluck style reception at our home afterward.
Since we cannot have many with us in person due to timing and funds, we are trying to budget in a live stream of our wedding at my business' youtube channel. That way, thanks to the internet, many more can be able to see our ceremony in real time.
Our goal here won't cover the full cost, but...
The donation funds will help offset the cost of:
--Ceremony at local chapel
--The dressing room and music
--Groom tux rental with shoes
--Bouquet and Boutonniere
--Fees for the minister and filing/processing paperwork
--Marriage license
--A portable wifi hotspot to stream the wedding live
--Guest book and favors
--Other wedding materials
--And finally part of this goal is a portion to account for the fees that will be taken from GoFundMe and WePay here at this site.
GoFundMe's fee is 5% from each donation we receive. WePay's fee is 2.9% + $0.30 per donation. So for example, if someone donates $10 we get about $8.91.
