A Rebel with a Cause

Please allow me to introduce you to half of my heart. Rebel is a six year old Pit Bull type dog.  You know the type I mean. Big, blocky head, big, deep chest and the biggest heart ever.  He's got a gorgeous smile, his tail wags constantly and he likes to express his opinions loudly, pretending he's a Husky. His mismatched eyes sparkle. At least, they usually do.  Lately my boy hasn't had his normal sparkle. He managed, in his boisterous day to day exuberance, to tear not one, but BOTH of his ACLs. (That's the super important ligament that keeps his leg bones where they need to be and allows him to walk without the bones slipping.) My boy has been on almost constant movement restriction, and any walking he needs to do is done with my help thanks to a harness that has a handle at his shoulders and another at his hips. Without that harness and my help, he wouldn't be able to walk at all.  Things have been pretty sad around here. We took him to the vet and he got x rays done to confirm the problem and they said he will need a surgical procedure called a TPLO on both hind legs to restore his ability to walk. The first quote we got was 8000 for both legs. There was no way I could afford that, I exhausted every possibility trying to find a way. Things were looking pretty grim.

Then, today, I got some EXCELLENT news. There is a vet up near Denver, and he is willing to work with us and do Rebel's surgery - that's BOTH legs, x-rays, blood work, everything he needs - for a super big discount of 2500 dollars.  It's amazing and I'm so very relieved...but I do still need to come up with that amount. So, this is where I humbly ask you, family, friends, strangers with kind hearts if there is anything you can spare to help me get my guy back on his feet - literally.  We appreciate any and all help so much...and if you're unable to help with a donation, a share is a gigantic help as well.
