Abha Memorial Hospital, Kolkata
In 1991 a nun in India, Didi Ananda Prajina, started a campaign to build the Abha Memorial Hospital and Research Center in Kolkata, India.
Her idea was to build a hospital that would provide medical care and services to the "poorest of the poor" in Kolkata. In the years since 1991, Didi has been able to register the charity, raise money to purchase a well-located property in Kolkata, and has started the construction of the hospital. (as shown below)
Here is what the hospital will look like when it is finished:
Didi's goal is very lofty, and it will take a while to complete all of it, but she is at a stage where a little bit of money will enable her and co-workers to begin providing medical services immediately. $10,000 is all it will take to set up a functioning out-patient clinic on the ground floor of the hospital site. Once the clinic is opened qualified doctors will be able to provide care to poor people who otherwise could not afford treatment.
Contribute what you can, and let's start the first part of this great work.
