Achilles Leg Repair Fund

Donation protected
Today 10/05/2015 I was able to take (who we now call Achilles) home. He had been at the Carson Animal Shelter since September 7th, 2015 with an injuried paw/arm. I first saw his video online, which a nice volunteer had posted about Achilles ( used to be named Davey). I immediately felt so bad for this young sweet boy who seemed to have his paw dangling around while he hopped around his kennel trying to soak up as much love as he could get.

So, I went to the shelter to see him in the cage to see his personality, and of course, he stole my heart. His eyes remind me of my own dog whose eyes could melt your heart with just one look.

After weeks of going back and forth with the shelter on whether or not he was adoptable due to his injury preventing him from being able to be temperament tested, finally they called me to tell me Achilles received an A on his test! This ment that he was no longer simply waiting around for a rescue group to take charge and that he could be adopted out to any semaritan.

His injuries are severe and the shelter had taken him to see 2 different doctors while he was there and both said they believe he has nerve damage due to being hit by a car. They said the xrays don't show a break in his bones so then that would mean it is a nerve issue.  They were talking about amputation when I spoke to them last- unless someone was able to step in and fork up the bill to take him to a nerve specialist.

He is not able to use his paw to hold weight, but I can tell he has control of his whole arm accept for his paw (just by watching him walk around). I believe that with some help from a specialist, Achilles might just be able to save his arm from being amputated.

He also came down with a cold at the shelter (commonly known as Kennel Cough) as well as I noticed worms in his poop.

Achilles is only 1.5 years old and has so much energy and spirit I felt he was worth saving, and that is just what I did.

I am fostering him and aiding him back to health, in an effort to re-home him in the future. But, until then, I will be needing to go to multiple vet visits and possibly spending lots of money to save, or at least do what needs to be done, with his poor leg.

Any kind of donations help and are much appreciated! I know that many people don't have the means to help, but  if you don't please share Achilles story !
