Adrian's Last Year of College Fund

Brother & Sisters,

My name is Adrian. I'm 28 yrs old from Montgomery, AL. I graduated high school in 2004 and set out to make something of myself and hopefully be the first in my immediate family to graduate college. I received a partial music scholarship to Troy University in Troy, AL although my major, at the time, was undecided. After 2 years, I decided to major in Music Education. I was oblivious to all the consequences of changing my major that late into my academic career. As a result, in 2009 I was forced to withdraw because of a lack of finances to continue.

I was close to finishing so that really affected me psychologically and emotionally. In 2010 I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, which I had no idea about until friends and family urged me to see someone. I had lost interest in the things I once loved and, most of all, Life. That year was very trying but, by the Grace of God, I made it! I got back in the work force, as my student loans started to go into repayment. Job after job, I just couldn't seem to make enough to save because of medical bills, student loans, rent, and other expenses.

That brings me to my current situation. I have recently lost my job of 2 years as a Loan Officer. I'm faced with the decision of working another dead end job, or finishing school. With only ONE YEAR (26 hours) left of school, I feel that it's time to finally finish school and do what I've dreamed my whole life...that is to earn a College Degree, make my life's work dedicated helping others, and making beautiful music.  I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck working high turnover jobs that are getting me nowhere. The only thing standing between me and my dream is the balance I have at Troy. I have to pay it before I can register for classes. There are scholarships available to me and also financial aid to help me finish, but without the balance being paid, I have no access to it.

I'm asking everyone reading this to search deep within your heart and help me to reach my goal and live my dream. My friends and family know I would NEVER do anything like this, but I've prayed about it and swallowed my pride . Every little bit helps, so I'm asking you to plant a seed into the life of a God Fearing, hardworking young man who is just trying to be successful in life. If we come together to help one another in these tough times, just imagine where we would be as a nation. Thank you in advance for your support and prayers.

Sincerely,

Adrian
