Grow Albany's Power of Produce
Donation protected
This summer we are embarking on a second year of Power of Produce Club (PoP Club) at the Albany (Oregon) Farmers' Market .
This is a program that gives local kids (5-12) the opportunity to spend market tokens on fresh fruit, vegetables, starts, seeds and herbs! Kids receive $4 in wooden tokens for each market they attend. We also provide fun activities that encourage healthy choices in food and activity.
We piloted last year at 9 weeks, and we are trying for 13 weeks to allow kids access to a wider range of produce.
The program starts June 24, and we are about halfway to our overall goal, thanks to sponsorships from local businesses and individuals.
Without more help, we will have to stop offering tokens long before our target date of September 16. The farmers are covering all other program costs.
We are a 501(c)6, which means that gifts to PoP are not tax deductible as charitable contributions from individuals. Businesses may determine that PoP is a valid promotional expense. Consult with your tax professional.
