Mary Anne Caibaiosai is of the bear clan Anishnaabe kwe from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, Manitoulin Island. She has received and follow traditional teachings passed from her Elders from her territory and from the Midewewin lodge. Mary Anne currently reside in Kitchener, Ontario.

Mary Anne is being led to walk along the Grand River, following in the footsteps of Josephine Mandamin, an Anishnaabe Elder, the original water walker. She has honoured the water by walking around the Great Lakes.

This event will take place from September 15th to September 29th 2018. All are welcome to join in:
The All Nations Water Walk will begin at the headwaters of the Grand River and follow the beautiful river-ways. The walk is intended to honour the water and connect all peoples to creation. It is also a walk in memory of the late Violet Caibaiosai, one of the original Water Walkers.
When we are walking for water, we are in Ceremony. We will move like water, continuously each day, until we reach our destination. We carry asemaa/tobacco with us to offer to any flowing streams or rivers we cross. When we walk, this is a time for prayers or songs for the water. We do this for our water to become pure and clean and to continuously flow. We follow the Protocols to show our respect for our Grandmothers, our Mother Earth, and ourselves. Women on their Moon-time do not carry the water at this time as they are already in Ceremony. Men carry the Eagle Feather Staff, but if there are no males in attendance, the women can carry the staff.

If you are unable to do the walk and wish to be a part of it, you can also donate, food, lodging along the route, or money to help with food and needs of the walkers.

There are protocols in place such as no dogs, women are required to wear long skirts, no alcohol or drugs and more which can be found on the website.
