In April, my husband Allan was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer. In addition, he had fractures in his spine and a ruptured disk. In spite of all of this, Allan still maintains a positive spirit and attitude that he will beat this.
Due to a number of hospital stays, doctor visits, and treatments this year, I no longer have any remaining sick or vacation time.
We will begin the process in the next few weeks for Allan to have a stem cell transplant and for those who have family members or loved ones whom have gone through similar challenges, you understand first-hand the toll that cancer and all the treatments have on a family's finances.
Given this, we anticipate that I will miss a number of days from work. The doctor will require Allan to have someone with him the first two weeks home from the transplant, especially.
These missed days will be without pay.
There are no additional resources to financially help support our family during this very difficult and trying time. Therefore, we are asking friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else who might understand what lies ahead to assist us on this journey. Your donations will go to offset the loss of household income due to Allan's inability to work and my need to be off to be his caregiver.
