Highwheel Ride Across the US!

Donation protected
Hello everyone! This is Amy  Oleynik, from California (and Michigan!) This fall, I am embarking on an amazing adventure with my Dad... riding our bikes across the United States! And we won't be using any ol' bike... we will be riding antique bicycles from the 1880's, known as high wheels or Ordinaries.

We will travel from San Francisco, CA to Boston MA. amd this trip will last for about 2 months. That means riding about 60-80 miles a day. Some days we may even do 100 miles! We leave on August 13th, 2016 bright and early in the morning from Golden Gate Park.

Why are we taking this trip?

As a part of an antique bike organization, The Wheelmen, my family has ridden, restored, and showed these antique bikes for over ten years. My dad and I have always wanted to take a ride across the United States, and now is the perfect time for us to do so. Other members of the Wheelmen have completed this journey, and it was time the Oleynik's did so as well.

If I complete this ride, I will be the second woman to ever make this trip via high wheel. My goal is also to complete the ride in the quickest time, which I am trying to enter in the Guiness Book of World Records! Another fun fact: We are also being filmed for a documentary!

Our goal is to pack and ride the majority of the trip, which means light packing, camping, etc. We will not have the capability to carry much on us, only what we can fit in backpacks.

What will the funds be used for?
-Meals
-Lodging (campsites or motels when needed)
-Ibeprofen (have you seen our seats...?)
-Sunscreen (please help me not turn into a crisp)
-Other emergency needs like medicine
-Water water water water Gatorade

I honestly don't have a "goal number" I am asking to reach, but GoFundMe requires a number amount.  Any amount you would like to donate is incredibly appreciated. I can't thank you all enough for all the words of encouragement, prayers, and excitement you have given us to get us ready for the trip!

I also have an exciting blog you can follow! www.bikeroute.com/highwheel
I will also have a Facebook page up and running soon so you can ask us questions, see our photos, and tell us how crazy we are. ;-)

I can't wait to get started, even though I am nervous! It's going to be an incredible two months. Who knows what will happen!!
Thank you all for supporting us and this crazy idea.

Thank you, thank you, thank you from us Two Ordinary Riders.

Love Amy :)
