Mission Trip to South America

My passion has and always will be to work with animals and to help them in any way I can. I love my job as a veterinary technician where I can care for the dogs and cats of my community. Animals have such a way of giving back to the human soul.
In November of 2013 I traveled to Sosua, Dominican Republic on a trip with the World Vets Organization to go on a spay/neuter mission. Sterilization projects such as these drastically help reduce the number of stray dogs and cats that roam freely and are subject to abuse, starvation and neglect. My trip the DR not only allowed me to help in the mission to spay and neuter hundreds of animals in only 3 days and provide excellent clinical care with my team, but to also help the impoverished citizens of that town. Their gratitude and grace toward myself and our team is unparalleled to anything I have seen before. What I learned is that when you help animals, you are also helping people. Since I departed Sosua, I have felt a great thirst to do it again!!
There is an upcoming trip with World Vets to Commewijne, Suriname this October and I would just about give my left foot to go. I am hungry for the culture, the people, the animals and the love and service I can give to the community. For those who don't know: "World Vets develops, implements and manages international veterinary and disaster relief programs to help animals, educate people and have a positive impact on communities. Improving animal welfare and alleviating suffering are high on the priority list but the work extends beyond that. Their programs help to prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans; their livestock programs help small farmers to pull themselves out of poverty, and their disaster relief efforts for animals directly impact people who might otherwise remain in dangerous situations if the needs of their animals are not addressed." (World Vets)
Please support me in any way you can to achieve this goal for 2015: to make a difference in this world for animals and the people who love them, but cannot afford traditional veterinary care. Thank you.
