My Eye, My World

Donation protected
As an Taiwanese University student to be graduated, I’m not very certain if to choose the path less traveled by. Photography is my passion. It would be inspiring and wonderful to have a chance to become a professional photographer. To let my photos be seen, my ideas be shared.

In 2014, it was fairly a chance to have a personal photo exposition in Troyes, France. I was encouraged by a friend to propose my project to the University of Technology of Troyes. Agreed by all personnels in the Art and Cultural Office. They gave me one month to hold my personal photo exposition “Dans Mes Yeux, Taiwan” (Translation: In my eyes, Taiwan) to present my country. The exposition was a huge success. Later on, the University had invited me to cooperate with them for two photography projects. I was sincerely inspired by how much I could really offer.

Having the chance of being recognized in France has encouraged me a lot while coming back to Taiwan I am a little discouraged by my own society. Art, especially in the Taiwanese society, is valued by the price tag. Myself, might not have enough influences to change the situation. But one day, I would like to urge the society to truly understand that art should be fairly treated as all subjects such as math and science.

I’m a happy outgoing person with a lot of creativity. Majored in language (English and French) has helped me have a better understanding of culture and communication skills. Observation is one of my strength. I was once an exchange student in France. I’ve traveled around Europe on my own, I’ve learned to observe the culture with my own proper eyes and by talking to the locals. I used my camera to preserve every unique moment I’ve encountered. My photos are the way I see the world. There’s always a story behind a photo.

Perhaps, you once had a dream like me. Yet, having not enough courage. Persuasion from the general society and from the caring elders took place. The path “secured” was chosen over the road less traveled by. Having made all the difference, wealth and social status have approached you and you have more than you need now. But, every time you look back, that old dream went away like a kite. You still can see it, hanging there. But the longer you keep it, the further away it is from you. Or maybe, even, it has already gone, away. Blown off by the wind, or scattered on the grass.

There are things that if we don't do now, we might never do it again. We know it very well that if a certain time has passed in our life, the second chance don’t knock twice. Therefore, I would be very grateful if you would kindly support my project to allow me to have better equipments, to let me have a chance to show you the world I see.
