Anry's Origin Adventure Park
Nicaragua is a developing country, one that is full of spirit, beauty and passion. I would love to see my home country prosper, and I believe tourism is a wonderful way to do that.
My name is Anry Rodriguez. I have been a Tour Guide in León, Nicaragua, for the last 17 years. I was the first person to Volcano Board down Cerro Negro, which reached No.2 on CNN’s ’50 Most Thrilling, Daring, Things You Can Do On Vacation’.
I am qualified in Touristic Enterprises, with a degree in Tourism from UNAN (National Autonomous University of Nicaragua). I have an aspiration to make my work ecological and sustainable, to help create a positive impact on local communities and preserve the natural environment.
With your help I would love to build an Adventure Park and Cabanas, for locals and tourists from all over the world (like you!) to enjoy. Some of the activities we will offer are: Tarzan Swing, Rappel, Canopy/Ziplining, Obstacle Course, and Watersports.
We have already started work on Origin Adventure Park, located next to the beautiful Asososca Lagoon, and surrounded by volcanoes. Previously the road to the lagoon was not accessible, but for the last 4 months we have been working with our bare hands to clean the road and footpath, so now any vehicles can reach the area. This is sweaty work in Nicaragua! Furthermore we have built a Tarzan Swing, a Rappel and Zipline combo, an area for people to relax in a hammock by the lagoon, and a camping area for people to sleep under the stars.
With your support we can build a bigger Canopy, Cabanas for families, couples and friends, and some basic facilities, such as a bathroom, reception area and bar.
Speaking with the locals in the area, you see the children’s faces light up when we show them videos of the Tarzan Swing. We believe this should be an area for them to enjoy too. We also believe in hiring locals to work at the park, teaching them English, and showing the local community how to preserve the area and look after the environment; encouraging them to stop hunting the animals in the area, reducing pollution, and teaching them about recycling and composting.
I already run one project called Cornizuelo, which supports school children around Cerro Negro Volcano, where the traffic from Volcano Boarding is affecting their health. The tourist buses churn up dust, which is contaminated by insecticides from the peanut production in the area. This results in the children suffering from chronic throat infections, when they walk the long distance to school. We provide scholarships to pay for school supplies, transport and clothing, to encourage the children to get a good education. This is how we like to work: bringing prosperity to Nicaragua, while supporting the local community who help give Nicaragua it’s spirit.
Thank you in advance. If you are in Nicaragua please get in touch, we would love to welcome you to Origin. Anyone who donates will receive a free overnight stay and access to all of our activities, as a way to say thank you for your support.
