April Millsap Memorial Garden

April Millsap is the child who was murdered on the Macomb Orchard Trail while walking her dog, Penny. Her faithful companion stayed with her and tried to get April help.  The only suspect has been tried and convicted of murdering her. He is awaiting sentencing. The murder of this innocent child shocked the small town of Armada and the surrounding communities.

The garden has been installed. It is certified as a wildlife habitat, monarch Waystation and part of the one million garden pollinator challenge. The abundance of flowers, shrubs and perennials is inspiring. We also became a 503 c not for profit corporation, meaning your donations are tax deductible.

Our goals for 2016 are clear:
1. Design, complete and install an informational kiosk.
2. Design, complete and install an irrigation system.
3. Install the animal topiaries.
4. Install the section markers of bed sponsors and adopters.
5. Plant the annual flowers and replace ones that did not make it through the winter.
6. Apply mulch.
7. Coordinate the daily care of the garden.
8. Plain and hold several fundraisers.
9. Hold curriculum in the garden pertaining to community involvement, volunteerism and ecology, to name a few.

We look forward to you visiting the site and to your continued support. Thank you.
