Arcane's Computer Fund

Hey guys!

So here's the scoop. I'm an artist, and if you're here, you know that. I create all manner of things from art:

To webcomics:

To comedy videos (warning, some strong language):

To music:

To Amanda (Bon Voyage) by Apollo

I do all of this thanks to my MacBook, which has served me well these last five years. Unfortunately, MacBooks from that run can suffer from a fatal logic board defect that was so bad that Apple set up a rare replacement program for computers that fell victim to it.

Alas, my dear computer has succumbed and is now failing. I'm two years past the cutoff date, so I'm not eligible for a replacement.

So what does this mean? It means that Manga Studio, Photoshop, Screenflow, Blender, and the other various art tools that I use to create this stuff hard crashes my computer frequently (in some cases, the software has become completely unusable).

Basically, I need a new computer. I've looked at several options and I've settled on a Retina iMac to replace the MacBook. Yeah, it's expensive, but Macs hold value well and it should last a good long time. Yes, I know, my MacBook has a fatal defect, but stuff like that is rare. My brother is using a 2007 iMac that is, with a couple quirks, still going strong.

In addition, the more powerful machine will allow me to explore whole new venues of artistry, work faster, render video faster, play newer, prettier games for the show, develop games, etc. etc. In short, it's worth it. Oh, and yes, I use Mac-exclusive software for a number of my endeavors, notably animating the show, so it's gotta be Mac. Them's the breaks!

So, I'm reaching out to you guys, my friends and fans. For the most part, I share my art freely or at extremely low cost because I'm not money-hungry. I just want to make art. If you can pitch in to help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

The iMac will cost $2,680 after taxes. That includes three years of AppleCare, which covers parts and labor if anything goes wrong. It's the best, you guys—I once had a hard drive fail and the Apple Store did a full data recovery and replaced the drive completely free. I rounded up to $3000 to cover GoFundMe's fees.

Every little bit helps. Thanks so much!
