Provide a Ride for Austin & Jackson Phillips

Austin & Jackson are brothers born just two years apart. They both have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (https://www.mda.org/disease/duchenne-muscular-dystrophy), a debilitating muscular disease which limits their ability to walk and shortens their lifespan.  Austin is 11 and attends Wilson Intermediate School and Jackson attends CB Smith.  Dist. 108 – Pekin, IL sees a huge need and that’s why we’re asking the wider community to help us raise funds to purchase an accessible van for their family.

Their mom, Courtney, is a single, hard working parent who moved to Dist. 108 2 years ago.  Mr. Josh Norman, Austin’s principal at Wilson school, encouraged Austin’s mom to bring his power chair to school. The reason she had not done it before was she had no way to get his wheelchair to and from school.  Since both children are in the latchkey program (before and after school care) that means Austin & Jackson can not ride the accessible bus to and from home.  Currently their mom drives a 4 door sedan with over 200,000 miles on it. Having an accessible van that can accommodate 2 wheelchairs will enable Courtney and her boys to participate in family activities outside of their home.

Courtney has connected with an agency that will pay for and install the lifts and WE NEED your help to purchase the van. During this season of giving, we are asking you to open your heart to help purchase an accessible van for Austin & Jackson’s mom.
