Malachi's Diabetes Fund

Donation protected
Thank you all so much for all of your prayers and support.  It has meant so much to us knowing that you all love and care so much about our son, Malachi.

As you know he has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  On Saturday, July 18th we had a normal day and did our normal routine of the Farmer's Market in the morning, came home, rested, played, and then went to a Graduation Party later that afternoon.  At the party, he was his normal energetic self, running around playing with his friends.  We were there for about 3 hours and he said he needed to go to the bathroom 3 different times.  I thought that was very odd as he NEVER goes pee that much, especially when he's playing with his friends and distracted.

We came home and got him to bed and I started looking up bed wetting (he had been doing a lot of that lately).  Much of what I was seeing pointed to Type 1 Diabetes.  That night, he got up to go to the bathroom about SIX different times and 4 of those times he wet his bed and THEN urinated a ton in the potty as well.  He was also complaining of being SUPER thirsty and just needing more water.  I knew something was off.  I called the advice nurse early that morning and I got an appointment scheduled a couple hours later.  We brought him in, he peed in a cup, and tested his glucose levels and it was confirmed that he had diabetes.  We then hung out in the ER, he got an IV, received insulin, but because there was no children's endocrinologist there in Santa Rosa we had to be transported to Oakland via ambulance so that we could get the proper training and meet the endocrinologist there and a team of diabetes specialists.

We are home now and we feel as though our lives have been turned upside down.  We have to check his glucose levels with a finger prick and squeeze a drop of blood out so that we can see how high or low he is.  We must do this at breakfast, lunch, dinner and before bed.  He HATES it.  He screams and pleads for us to stop, that he doesn't want to do it, he doesn't want us to hurt him, and that he's scared.  It breaks our hearts each time.  My husband has to lay across him and hold him down while I prick him.  Then, as if that isn't enough we have to figure out how much insulin to give him based on his blood sugar levels and based on what he is going to eat.  Then my husband lays over him again and pins him down while he screams and I give him his insulin injection.  FOUR times a day we have to do this.  And at night, it's TWO injections of two different times of insulin.  Our hearts hurt.

But here comes the good part:

We serve a MIGHTY and POWERFUL God who gives sight to the blind, heals the lepers, make the lame walk, and make dead men rise.  And I TRULY believe that Jesus can heal my son.

The doctors say he will HAVE to be on insulin for the rest of his life, and if that is the case, my prayer is that God will be glorified.  But, in the meantime, we all know that there are so many holistic methods to balance our bodies, and we would like to focus on these methods as well as we go through this journey—things like proper diet, cleansing, balanced pH  water devoid of chemicals, essential oils and supplements, etc.

So, knowing that God tells us that our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), would you consider partnering with us in the following:

First, please pray.  This is not an easy road we are on and I know we will have "scoffers".  Please pray that God would give us perseverance, endurance, strength, and wisdom.  God has ALL the wisdom that we need.  HE is the GREAT physician. We desperately need His help.  Also, pray that the injections would become easier and easier for Malachi and that He would feel God's presence around him and he would be brave and courageous.  Lastly, pray that in ALL of this our God would be glorified.  We exist not for ourselves, but for the GLORY of God.  He has allowed this in our lives for a reason, and we embrace this suffering we are enduring right now. "For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." —2 Corinthians4:17
