I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma on June 19th, 2014 after getting an MRI for headaches. Acoustic neuroma is a brain tumor located right around the hearing, balance and facial nerves. This tumor can cause headaches, balance issues, hearing loss, ringing in the ears and vertigo/dizziness. My tumor is about the size of a golf ball. I will have surgery to remove the tumor on or before August 14th in Miami with Dr. Morcos. Risks of surgery include complete and permanent hearing loss on the tumor side (my right), facial paralysis (temporary or permanent), balance issues (since the right side balance nerve will be destroyed during surgery) along with all normal risks associated with surgery. I have faith in Dr. Morcos and his team of neurosurgeons and I am ready to get this thing out of my head!
