Augie the Doggie's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Augie the Doggie is a pit bull that I started fostering in December 2011. I knew when I started fostering him that he was a chronically ill dog but I could not walk away from him when I first met him at an Angel City Pit Bull adoption. His eyes had so much sadness in them that I could not leave him behind. Augie came to me with a staph infection and sores all over his body. He had extremely sensitive paws that were blistered and ulcerated. Augie was on so much medication: antibiotics, prednisone, tramadol, joint meds, a solution to soak his paws everyday, powder for his paws, and shampoo for his skin. I had to bathe him 2 times a week to provide him relief from his open sores. It took me eight months to finally find the right antibiotic to get rid of the staph infection and it took me one and a half years to find a pill to dry and heal his paws. Since I have had him, Augie has had three cancer surgeries. Augie will never be a healthy dog. He will always have skin problems, joint problems, and have to be checked regularly for cancer. But Augie loves life, he’s affectionate, he’s fun, and he never gives up. I have spent over $8,000 on his veterinarian bills and this does not include all the special food that I have been trying out on him to help with his skin problems. Augie is such a sweet dog and I will do all that I can to keep him as comfortable as I can while he is alive. I have been unemployed the entire time I have had Augie with the exception of 6 months, and I have exhausted my resources. That is why I’m asking for help. Please help Augie continue his fight.
