I went back to my birthplace, Freetown Sierra Leone in December 2018, for what turned out to be an incredible project, but while there I saw how women were treated and decided to do something about it.
Since then, First Lady Weah started a #HandsOffOurGirls campaign and Sierra Leone govt declared a National Emergency on Sexual Violence which has added the urgency to create something that will empower women back home.
I decided to use the team I have on the ground who produced the BeComeNSF event I held, to create a womens empowerment initiative.
We are securing 4 speakers covering education, personal healthcare, entrepreneurship and self esteem - a full day of training, talks and discussions for 100 school aged girls with inspirational speakers which will run 3 times a year with the aim of teaching them how to create a physical, mental and emotional support system in their communities.
We have decided to launch our first event on international women's day - 8th March - and donations of £10 will cover food, training and travel for 1 girl so we need 100 people to donate £10 within a week to reach our £1000 girl with enough time to wire the funds across
