Betty's Medical Expenses

As a single parent of two, both of whom are in college, both having started at a young age of just 15 are very bright and giving. Having devoted an extreme amount of time to studies, we have been able to accomplish a great deal and am very proud, however these last few years have been very though especially on myself having had several new diagnosises, many doctor appointments, procedures, treatments and lots of meds all of which have been very costly. I already have and continue to go to MdAnderson as well as North Cypress to be followed for several conditions and now we have added more. We do have private health insurance and for that I am grateful however sometimes that seems to be the problem now-a-days is actually having insurance rather than not, because they do not want to cover treatments, and or pay for the meds that you truely need. Each and every time I go to the pharmacy I am faced with each med costing meds hundreds of dollars and I can not go with out them, and it really puts families and one income families especially in a really bad spot. I spend on average $1500-$2000 a month on just medicine a month (that is what the insurance won't cover) not counting the new ones now or new treatment now that I just started a month and a half ago and am due to receive for the next year at least if not longer. That's an additional $600-$1000 every two weeks until my deductible kicks back in next Jan, then it sky rockets to $3800 every two weeks, something has got to change with the system of health insurance companies, we need help. Families can not afford this, and one income ones especially. So I find myself in a position where I have gone as far and as long as I can without asking for help but feel my family and I must at this point. During this time, I feel I have no choice but to let my pride down and allow this fund to go forward in efforts that it my alleviate some of the financial strain on myself and my family so that I can focus on trying to get better.
