The Passing Project

The Passing Project:
At its core, the Passing Project has two major contributions to the world of hockey analytics. First, it isolates shooting events that are more likely to result in a goal. Pre-shot movement is key in gaining an advantage in today's NHL and this project reveals location and sequencing that contribute to higher shot quality. Second, it identifies which players truly drive a team's offensive contributions and, more importantly, how they do it. More on the project here.
Why fund our project?
This project requires thousands of hours of labour. While this work will be performed on a voluntary basis, there are costs associated with providing our volunteers with the tools they need. Your donations will help cover the cost of GameCenter Live subscriptions to be used by the volunteers in order to perform their tracking duties.
The data collected in this project must be processed and shared on a public online platform. Should enough money be raised, additional funding will be put towards rewarding those responsible for processing and hosting this information.
By funding this project, you're helping accelerate the growth of hockey analytics and taking the sport places it's never been.
