My name is DeQuanta McKnight-Stowers. My husband, Lamar Stowers, and I recently experienced a tragedy to our home. On Friday, March 2, 2018 around 5:00 pm our home caught fire due to a faulty outlet. The fire consumed over half of our home and there is severe smoke damage in the remaining half of our home. The electricity was disconnected and we were told by the City of Rock Hill that in order to regain occupancy and electrical services, the house must be completely electrically rewired according to the current standards and guidelines, all damage to the home must be repaired, and receive an approved inspection. At the time of the fire we were not the home owners; There was no homeowner’s insurance. This tragedy has left my husband, 4 boys, a daughter, and granddaughter displaced without a home. Since the fire, on March 13, 2018 the deed to the home was signed over to us through Micheal Johnson and Associates in Fort Mill, South Carolina. 

I’m writing in all humbleness and out of options seeking for donations, financially and for supplies and materials to fix and repair our home. We are currently receiving services from organizations throughout the City of Rock Hill to replace clothing, food, and personal items lost or damaged in the fire. There are no City programs and/or organizations that help with home repairs and supplies, that we qualify for.  We have temporary housing with a family member; we would love to be able to go back to our home that we’ve inherited and that has been paid for.
