Big Brother Lincoln

On December 22, 2015 we lost our firstborn, Lincoln, during his delivery. We miss him everyday. Nothing will ever completely heal our hearts; and no other child will ever take his place in our family. We have known from the start that we wanted to grow our family. But we have been taking our time, grieving and learning to be parents to our son, even though he cannot be here. We have consistently gone back and forth between desperation for another baby, and taking our time. We finally feel that it is time to actively try to have another baby: to make Lincoln a big brother.

Lincoln's complicated delivery was very hard on my body. My c-section was both a vertical and horizontal cut, like a cross, increasing risk of rupture. And I am at risk of early labor. I will need closer monitoring than I had the first time around. We currently have a preconception appointment with a perinatal specialist to get checked out. Because Lincoln's labor started early, and the delivery complications, we will be seeing two different doctors throughout a pregnancy (whenever that may happen). We will have one doctor here in town, and will have to travel out of town to see the specialist. We have insurance, but it will not cover very much. We will both also be missing work for these specialist visits.

After losing our first child, the very idea of getting pregnant again is terrifying. We don't like to ask for help, but having less stress about the financial aspect will provide at least a little bit of relief.  Funds will go towards medical bills and travel expenses.

We appreciate the continued prayers for our healing, and our lives moving forward: changed, but better, for being blessed with Lincoln at all. We wouldn't trade him for anything.
