Mission Trip to Thailand

Hi, my name is Brooke Bixler and I'm raising money for my volunteer trip to Thailand. I am going with an organization through Pod Volunteers and the trip is called Elephant Resuce and Wildlife Care Thailand U18.  The excursion is scheduled for July 30th, 2016-August 13th 2016 (2 weeks). The $5000 will be used for the following: $805 for the first payment on April 9th, $838 for the second payment due on June 4th, about $1290 for the plane ticket from Miami International Airport in Miami, USA to Heathrow Aiport in London, England, $805 for the plane ticket from Heathrow Aiport in London, England, to Suvarnabhumi Aiport in Bangkok, Thailand, and $180 for the  passport book and card.

One of the major problems with elephants is the poaching for their beautiful ivory. In the last three years, we have lost more than 100,000  elephants. People take elephants as trophies, not as living creatures. In Thailand, the elephant is a sacred icon. The Thai people think of this wonderful creature as a blessing to their society. What the organization is trying to do, is to save and protect elephants that have been injured and/or are in need of rehabilitation. In addition, we  care for various primates and bears that also need care. My help will be contributed by preparing their food, walking the elephants, bathing them, spending time with them, cleaning their environment, etc. We are trying to make a difference for them so the species can flourish rather diminish.


Currently, I am a junior attending Cardinal Gibbons High School and work as a hostess about three-four times a week. Usually, I go to work right after school and get home around 10pm and begin homework and my studies. In addition, I have been applying to get a second job at various locations to get extra money.  To get where I need to be, I must have atleast $800 per month. 

It would help me more than you know by donating even $1 towards my trip. This experience will be life changing.
