Give a creative outlet to Afghan Refugees

Donation protected
My name is Nayab Hashimi, I am a first generation Afghan-American trying to navigate life through the “American Dream”. I started Nayab Jade five years ago to explore various cultures, shine light on artisans, and raise awareness of the problems this world faces. I have worked with talented Afghan refugee women and customized timeless pieces with various materials from around the world while giving back to Afghanistan by sponsoring young Afghan women’s education.

Unfortunately when Covid came about things took a pause for a little while till the past 6 months. Since the fall of Afghanistan, I have been working on the forefronts of the Afghan refugee crisis. I started raising awareness, collecting donations and fundraising with multiple amazing organizations. With everyone’s generous support, we were able to raise enough funds for 4,000+ art and sensory kits to five different bases as well as collecting thousands of other necessities. Furthermore, I was able to teach and bring healing through art to the refugees waiting to be resettled. I saw the positive impact of giving them an outlet to express them selfs through art had on their mental health and saw the potential it brought out of people. Now that the refugees are resettled, I think it’s important to continue building a supportive safe space to help them express themselves creatively.

In efforts to continue supporting children and women’s mental health, I am hosting Blossom Afghanistan Fundraiser Art Gallery. The exhibition will take place at Lapis, an Afghan owned restaurant owned by the Popal family who have generously given me the space to showcase Blossom Afghanistan. They have opened their doors for collecting donations and raising funds for Afghan refugees since the crisis started as well.

Come celebrate my birthday and see my journey through photography, art work from the beautiful refugee kids I connected with and art work from the most talented and resilient people I have ever meet. A hundred percent of art sales will go towards the artists to help with their resettlement. Ticket donations will go towards Blossom Afghanistan, a project by Nayab Jade to bring virtual art sessions to the Afghan society. Each ticket purchase also includes a complimentary Lapis drink, deserts, henna and flower bar.

With your continuous support we will be able to coordinate art classes for Afghan refugees from various age groups, ship art materials and have them join an online community that will help us grow together.

Join us on our journey of finding ourselves and empowering others to blossom through love, culture, and art.

If you’re unavailable to attend but would love to support the cause, you can do so by donating or sharing this link!
