Brandon to the Czech Republic

Donation protected
I am part of a mission team headed to the Czech Republic in July 2017 to support the evangelism efforts of our brothers in that atheistic nation.

One of the evangelism tools most favored by Czech believers is English camps. They invite their countrymen to learn English at these camps, using Americans (us!) as teachers, and in this relaxed atmosphere, they build friendships and share the Gospel with attendees. The $1500 is the remaining travel cost and camp fees I have to raise by the end of June.

The Czech Republic is hard soil for evangelism, given their mistrust towards organized religion after the legacy of Soviet occupation and Catholic authoritarianism. The stories are heartrending, as are the questions about God's goodness - and the simple apathy of materialism pervading the country.

But our 10-year partnership with this Czech church is bearing fruit. Stories are pouring in describing the younger generation accepting Christ. New churches are being started. The older generation (those who lived under the Iron Curtain) are perhaps slower to open up, but the thresholds are clearly visible - asking questions, obtaining Bibles, former campers driving out of their way to visit us even when they can't fully attend that year. The Czech believers there are brilliant at maintaining and deepening the friendships formed at these camps. There have even been reports of healings!

Some friends of mine were skeptical that these methods are the most cost-effective form of evangelism. They visited the Czech themselves and came back convinced, by missionaries from multiple denominations, that "English camps are the way it's done" in that country. Each year our church sends a team to lend a hand at these English camps, our relationship with that church and its network of as-yet-unbelieving contacts grow wider and stronger.

I would be deeply indebted to you for your financial partnership in God's work here.

Even small donations - $50, $25 - would be treasured. Otherwise, your partnership in prayer is equally valuable. Oswald Chambers has said, "Prayer does not equip us for greater works— prayer is the greater work." Prayer makes you a part of the team without ever asking you to board a plane.
