As a filmmaker, director, choreographer, actor, and dancer, I am thrilled to be screening my latest film Egosia featuring members of Breton Follies, New York City based immersive dance theater company, at the La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival on July 27th, 2019 in La Jolla, CA. Following my official submission and selection into the festival, I received a phone call from the producing director just a day later inviting myself and the films’ cast to perform as a part of a new dance installation that I will choreograph specifically designed for the outdoor portion of their 10th anniversary season. This intersectional opportunity allows me to showcase my passions for choreography, fashion, and live installation in a triad medium, all while presenting the characters of Breton Follies. La Jolla has created a unique transverse opportunity, that reflects my vision as a director, choreographer, and filmmaker. I am very grateful to their artistic team for seeing these qualities in my work and presenting a new avenue of expression that is typically found in fashion but not necessarily in film.

Breton Follies reflects a unique group of artists, the majority of which are LGBTQ, that commit to creating gender fluid art while representing various ages and background. Our current cast spans ages 22-60, a reoccurring theme in Breton Follies productions for stage and screen. With a cinematic approach to movement, Breton Follies’ vernacular is rooted in classical ballet, cabaret, and latin rhythms, while honoring the style and sounds of the 1940s–1970s in musical theater. Celebrating the female form while debunking behavioral expectations based on gender, we explore humanity as expressed through time travel. I continue to create films that become live performance installations and dance pieces that are filmed and projected at live events, in order to transcend each medium. This crossover experience is something I find tremendously fulfilling, with the capacity to reach a wider audience beyond the seasoned theater goer and out into the global community. I find that the same work can be viewed and tailored to different platforms, as an infinite form of expression.
