Bricklin SV1 - Documentary
Donation protected
The Bricklin SV1 is not only a part of automotive history but also a part of Canadian / New Brunswick history. It is a tragic tale of a car that never really had a chance.
Brief history of the Bricklin SV1
The Bricklin SV-1 was a gull-wing door sports car assembled in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The body panels were manufactured in a separate plant in Minto, New Brunswick. Manufactured from 1974 until early 1976 for the U.S. market, the car was the creation of Malcolm Bricklin, an American millionaire who had previously founded Subaru of America. The car was designed by Herb Grasse. Due to Bricklin's lack of experience in the auto industry, coupled with the funding problems, The Bricklin factory was not able to produce vehicles fast enough to make a profit. As a result, only 2,854 cars were built before the company went into receivership, owing the New Brunswick government $23 million.
What I am doing.
I wish to film a documentary here in my home province of NB as well as travel to the state of Viginia, USA, where the Bricklin is kept alive by an avid Bricklin owner who has opened a business to restore and salavage the remaining cars.
Why am I doing this?
I am as passionate about film as I am about all things automotive. I felt the need to bring this rare vehicle to light. It will be both entertaining and educational.
I have been in contact with numerous Bricklin owners who were willing to be a part of this project.
Raising $5000 to allow me to hire extra crew and help with travel costs around the province of NB and to Virginia.
Thank you in advance to anyone who wishes to donate. If you so choose, I will ensure your names are written into the credits of the final documentary.
