Nathan's Treatments
Donation protected
Nathan is 11 years Old and he was 4 when we got the news that he was Autistic. He was a typically developing baby until he reach 18 months. The words he had were suddenly gone and he started to avoid eye contact. Which is pretty normal for a child with Autism. He is non-verbal and has many needs some of those we couldn't get taken care of with insurance and could not pay out of pocket for. The insurance companies will cover phaurmaceuticals but are not too receptive to therapies and interventions. Biomedical treatments have proven affective for many on the spectrum. The problem is most families cannot afford these. He was recently accepted into a program called Generation Rescue . They are a non-profit who help families get the care they need . As Nathan has gotten older his behaviors have gotten worse, sometimes they leave us feeling hopeless and I have spent many exhausting hours fighting with the insurance company, doing my own research , etc to try an get him the help he needs. It's hard when you have seen and known your child to do certain things, milestones, etc. It's even harder when all of that dissappears. I want my boy to be happy again and make life better for him. Right now he struggles because he cannot communicate, he has sensory issues and he has become aggressive.
This is a great opportunity for him to get the care he desperately needs. have recently had to leave my own full-time employment to be here to take care of him full-time. It was a huge decision and not one we arrived at lightly.
Nathan will began the program on October 1st. The amount we we are trying to raise is the cost of his lab work which we have to cover. The lab work will let them know just what treatments will be more affective for him.
Anything at all is greatly appreciated .
