This year with the downturn in the economy the Red Deer Christmas Bureau is expected to help over 1000 families in Red Deer & surrounding area.
The Red Deer Christmas Bureau strives to help families in need at Christmas. We provide our clients with enough food for a full Christmas Dinner, as well as breakfast and lunch for the day. Parents are invited to shop in our Toy Depot, choosing gifts that would suit their children. The children also receive, toques, mitts and pajamas to keep them toasty warm. Parents may also choose from a variety of books on our bookshelf, along with some other goodies, including batteries!!
We have a very short season for fundraising. In order to keep our doors open and provide everything that we do, we need to raise $140,000+. All of our positions are volunteer. There are no paid positions, so be confident that other than rent and bills, all of your money goes to help our clients!
Last year we provided 966 children with toys. 940 families received a food hamper. 107 families got and artificial trees and 135 bags of ornaments and 105 christmas wreaths were given out.
Volunteers made up 25 baby baskets for mothers last year with infants.
Since 2002 we have helped 11,453 families and individuals, gave away 10,659 christmas hampers and toys to 11,669 children.
