Help Save Myanmar's Flood Victims
Donation protected
Myanmar is currently in great turmoil as the monsoon season begins, due to floods caused by torrential rain that has been pouring down since the middle of July. This is only expected to worsen in the coming days.
At least 200, 000 people have been reported to be affected by the flood; a lot of them displaced from their homes without any source of clean water or food. In addition to the government, independent groups and Non-Government Organizations have been responding to the disaster, although the lack of access to the affected areas only makes it more difficult to do so.
Every penny counts. All your contributions will go into the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the flood victims in the affected areas. My people need all the help they can get, and right now we have reached a point where anything helps. This is one of the worst disasters since Cyclone Nargis in 2008 and we are in no way prepared for what other consequences this flooding will definitely bring about.
I'm currently a foreign student from Myanmar studying in California. Whatever money I raise here will be transferred to my father in Myanmar, who is a member of a charitable organization (RIT Friends Foundation) founded by him and the alumni from the Rangoon Institute of Technology, Class of 1993. The funds will be for the use of the organization in any way necessary to help those in need. Note that for me, this is the easiest and the most trust-worthy way I can send the money back home, since the funds will be going through my father.
