White Lotus Global Initiative
WHITE LOTUS GLOBAL INITIATIVE
HEAL THE LAND . HEAL THE PEOPLE . HEAL THE WORLD
That is the call, and we are responding. My name is Tammy Scarlett. I will share with you three stories of significant change already being made around the globe.
But first, let me tell you a little about me and why I'm doing this.
In her book Walking on Water, Madeleine L'engle speaks to the struggles of an artist wrestling with possibility, and if we, as humans, as children of God, are truly capable of anything. Madeleine's conclusion is yes - We can move mountains ... we can walk on water.
I've spent several years now as a Freedom Coach, speaking with friends and clients about how they can overcome anything and live into their limitless potential. Last year, I was confronted with the truth that I hadn't been asking myself those same questions. Who would I be if I truly believed anything were possible? The truth? I would move mountains. And to me, the biggest thing I can believe in is for the world to be healed. White Lotus Global Initiative is empowering people to come alive and heal their world... to facilitate desperately needed change with an abundance of heart, voice, and action.

THE SITUATION:
We are more connected worldwide than ever before, and we are more disconnected from each other in many ways than ever before. Anxiety and depression plague not only our most creative, innovative, and capable individuals, but also our children who are our future.
Humanity and our planet have huge challenges that can seem overwhelming. Within nations and within families we are living divided. Sometimes it's hard to know how we can actually affect real change.
But if humanity is to move forward, is to truly heal, we need all of us, each with our unique gift to the world.
White Lotus Global Initiative references the 12 Grand Global Challenges* as published by Singularity University:
Resource Needs-
Energy: Ample, accessible and sustainable energy for the needs of humanity.
Environment: Sustainable and equitable stewardship of Earth's ecosystems for optimal functioning both globally and locally.
Food: Consumption of sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to maintain healthy and active lives for all people at all times.
Shelter: Secure, safe, and sustainable shelter for residence, recreation, and industry for all people at all times.
Space: Safe and equitable use, and stewardship of, space resources and technologies for the benefit of humanity and our future as a multi-planetary species.
Water: Ample and safe water for consumption, sanitation, industry, and recreation for all people at all times.
Societal Needs-
Disaster Resilience: Effective and efficient disaster risk reduction, emergency response, and rehabilitation that saves lives and livelihoods, minimizes economic loss, and builds resilience both globally and locally.
Governance: Equitable participation of all people in formal and societal governance in accordance with principles of justice and individual rights; free from discrimination and identity-based prejudices; and able to meet the needs of an exponentially changing world.
Health: Optimal physical and mental health, including access to cost effective prevention, early diagnosis, and personalized therapy for individuals and communities.

WHAT WE’RE DOING RIGHT NOW:
1) We are partnering with businesses and non-profits to create greater facilitation of efficiencies to the Grand Global Challenges.
As you've read above, the 12 Grand Global Challenges above are identifiable and can have measurable solutions. We are actively working with Non-Profits and individuals to create systems of efficiency and collaboration, so these solutions can be identified and implemented as effectively as possible.
2) We are building an app to help bring these effeciencies to your phone and let you change the world with your finger.
White Lotus Global Initiative is building an app that will bring the power to become actively engaged in bringing efficient solutions to the world to your fingertips. It offers exploration and self-discovery, opportunities for funding and travel, connection with like-purposed individuals and organizations, and opensource data share for efficiency in solution building.
3) We are collaborating with organizations like Hive Global, Pachamama Alliance, and many others to help people discover their purpose and to bring awareness to the vital truth of our spiritual existence, the value of our connectedness to one another, and potential we already have within us to heal ourselves and the world around us.
Our vision for over half of the world to be engaged in healing the world by 2025 starts now.
We need immediate funding for:
- Admin staff for already growing projects
- Filing fees for initiatives and collaborative efforts
- Equipment for off-grid areas
- Platforms for storytelling
- Research efforts

PRAY - Please, please! It is so powerful, all of us with that same intention. We believe in answers to prayer and manifestation and we intend to see mountains move!
HOLD SPACE FOR THE HEALING OF THE LAND AND THE PEOPLE - This is so vitally important, and a smidge different than prayer. In his book, Moving to Great, Eric Boles calls it, “dwelling” which I find wildly appropriate.

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO:
STORY ONE
SPEAK PEACE: ONE FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS
STANDING ROCK, ND, USA
In November, 2016 for the first time in US history we experienced a severe land conflict between the people and the State, a conflict that lasted for months, where, though extreme violence was incurred, NOT ONE LIFE WAS LOST.
One Tacoma health department worker, Krystle Amundson, and myself rallied prayer support from our diverse community of people of all different ethnicities, religious backgrounds, lifestyles and belief systems. They came together in unity and love. With their pledged support, and with our education in anthropology, we drafted a quick 43-page brief and flew to Washington, DC. We were given hours of meetings. We used the time to calmly convey facts about the US history of similar movements and to ask for action to be taken to save the lives that stood to be lost if the State continued its actions after the 6,000 rallied US Veterans arrived on site.
We were successful. The easement was halted. And although much healing, understanding, and progress is yet needed in that area, the easement stalled the escalation long enough to dissipate the mounted violence. We had taken a step back from labels and sides of an argument. We collaborated across state lines and spent time drafting detailed potential solutions, involving the Sioux, involving the government, involving all of us. NOT ONE LIFE WAS LOST.

STORY TWO
JUST TRY IT - REPLICATABLE SOLUTIONS WORLDWIDE:
NAIROBI, KENYA
In May, 2013 a school for orphaned children in Kenya asked for help, the one-time kind. Over 260 children walked up to 10 miles a day to hear a lesson and to receive the one meal they would eat that day, usually consisting of rice, with the occasional luxury of beans. The children were devoted to their studies and graduated, however the headmaster was troubled. We learned most would not be able to attend college, and, although educated, would live as homeless young adults, adding to the burden of their community, rather than being able to contribute.
It took two months for my sister Megan Scarlett and I to draft help, the ongoing kind. We wrote a pilot program for vocational training for the children, calling on local village tradesmen to teach the children woodworking, beading, and agricultural skills they can take with them into the world to earn a living after graduation. The stigma of non-certified trainers in Kenya was challenging, as was the history of tribal conflict, as at least 9 tribes are represented in the school. But in spite of the challenges, the pilot program is in its 3rd successful year and is scheduled to be presented to the Ministry of Education in Kenya this October.
THESE CHILDREN WILL HAVE AN EDUCATION, BE ABLE TO WORK, FEED THEMSELVES, AND CONTRIBUTE TO SOLUTIONS IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES. We listened to where it was hurting the most, we collaborated with the local people on the ground, and we built plans on local self-sufficiency and immediately measurable growth potential.
This program is now being templated for use in other countries.

STORY THREE
CALL TO HEAL – UNPRECEDENTED PEACE:
ATLIN LAKE, BRITISH COLUMBIA
In February, 2017 the people of the Warmsprings at the Tlingit's Atlin Lake, BC reached out to Nichole Desjardins, local business owner here in Tacoma, WA, and inquired of the possibility of her bringing her Peruvian ceremonial training to their land, where space could be held for healing for the land and the people moving forward in peace. One of the leaders of their Warmsprings land wrote a beautiful poem asking that their land be a blueprint for the healing of the world.
The Tlingit, a prominent ancient coastal people, like many First Nations, lost much of their heritage in wars in the 1800’s and suffered silent loss in the years to follow, as their sacred practices had been held as illegal and punishable. Now, in 2017, the Tlingit youth are asking for their heritage. They are a people proud of their ancestors and grateful for the endurance of their great grandparents through such tradgedies as the period of residential school. On June 17th and 18th their sacred land was to be opened to people beyond the Tlingit, an invitation for unity and healing moving forward. Those elders who are Christian and those who are not, the Tlingit, other First Nations, white people, and others such as indigenous Cuba, and indigenous Newfoundland, and Germany, came and gathered and shared their history and heritage, and hope for the future, in the same place. Nichole and I made the long journey there and held space for the healing of the land and the people, creating ceremony as well as group and individual facilitation with a strong focus on trauma reconciliation. Since our visit, several workshops and events are already underway for reconciliation and healing work, including specific agendas for healing the community of the impacts of alcoholism and violence.
While we were still present there, a mountain was given back its name, a sacred site was recognized, and mutliple peoples, who in the past had been in conflict, came together and honored each other and the land.
