Help Me Run 26.2 for MS in Boston
I was diagnosed with MS 17 years ago, 1997, age 19. My mission to fight MS started by stepping out wtih my story in 2001 + 2002 when I rode for 2 years in the MS 150 in Dallas, TX. Then from 2006-2010 I walked 50 miles over 3 days, 4 years in a row, both solo and on my Team OptiMiStic in San Diego, CA. I've also walked in 5Ks too as well as the MS MuckFest and HikeMS in Colorado. I consider myself an Ambassador for MS. And I have never asked for any "help"
This year it's a big one . Not only am I running 26.2 miles, which is challenging, MS or not, but I'm also making 2 dreams come true: RUNNING for MS and most importantly... running The Boston Marathon!
I set out with a dream but didn't realize how much this was going to cost me out of pocket. I have no expectations but I'm putting this out there to see if you can help a little. Ya know, rather than offering to buy me a drink after running 26.2 miles, maybe chip in few bucks towards my experience.
Cost of Application for MS Team Entry: $100
Cost of Boston Marathon Entry: $325
Cost of new BROOKS shoes: $120

Cost of 4 month training program in Denver: $220
Additional Cost of trip (public transport to/from airport, daily meals for 4 days, etc) $250
BONUS- My Flight- I volunteered myself of an existing flight for a 4 hour lay over to get a travel voucher = so this flight is technically paid for by Southwest :)

For some reason I was given MS-- but not to live with it as a debilitating disease, but to be a voice. Everyone with MS is different, I like to say that we are snow flakes, no two with the same story. And, my story is just that--- and I choose to do with it what I feel is my purpose. I not only want to help those that need a wheelchair or therapy live a better life with less of a financial burden, but I want to remind myself, over and over, how grateful I am for my body, my strength... and my story as a healer. I honestly can't imagine my life without MS -- it not only taught me at a young age that I am not invincible and gave me an incredible awareness but it taught me the power of choice, that I had a choice on how I was going to handle living along side MS, rather than fight it. I've relied on my inner guidance and strength and I am proud of my story. I try not to own the label and define myself by it, but it is hard not to when it is the reason I am fundraising. Yes, once upon a time I was sick from MS. I had very bad symptoms. But that isn't me anymore. MS isn't me, it is just a small part of me. And all I can do is my small part to give back to the world of MS. The MS Society has held my hand through my entire journey and I am honored to support their mission to fight MS.

I am pursing my passion, my purpose and a dream. But at the present moment, any little bit you can contribute will help relieve financial stress so I can travel to Boston with ease!
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU for all of your love & support.
Love,
